Students learn to become Food Detectives in our academically-aligned workshop.

We get kids asking questions about what’s in their food and excited about real food and cooking!

The Pure Food Kids Workshop is a no-cost, commercial-free, common-core learning standards-aligned, food education workshop for 4th and 5th grade students in the greater Seattle and New York City metro areas. The program is free to public, private, and home-schools, equipping students with information and skills to make healthy food choices for life.

Our 2.5 hour workshops are fun and interactive:

  • Sparking curiosity about what’s really in the foods kids eat

  • Teaching kids how to read nutrition labels and ingredient lists

  • Raising awareness about how food companies are marketing to kids

  • Kids learn to be chefs, cooking and eating tasty, nourishing veggie chili right in their classrooms!

 

Unique curriculum, paired with rigorous evaluation and adaptability, allows for maximized learning and inspired change. Knowledge and skills that stay with kids throughout their lives.

 

Every kid deserves these life skills.

Workshop Tips

Classroom Preparation Tips:

  • A working screen and projector that connects to a computer with internet.
  • Desks are clean and cleared off except a writing utensil.
  • Desks are organized in 5 separate groups. Please assign students in groups where they can effectively work together.
  • Students with hair shoulder length or longer is tied up.
  • A large clear table near a working outlet for electric burner, food products, cooking trays.

Has your student taken the Pure Food Kids Workshop? If so, they have joined the ranks of more than 100,000 4th and 5th grade students in Seattle and New York City that have participated in our Pure Food Kids Workshop over the last decade.

The workshop is a commercial-free, common-core learning standards-aligned food education class from The Beecher's Foundation. Students leave equipped with tools to make healthy choices for life. They learn how to read nutrition labels, understand ingredient lists, identify marketing tactics, and cook a tasty vegetable chili right in class.
