In June, 2011 Pure Foods Kids workshops debuted in Manhattan (NY) as we continue our efforts to Change the Way America Eats. Classes were taught in Manhattan and the Bronx and were very well received.

We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn how to eat healthy. The Pure Food Kids workshop free to all 4th - 6th grade classrooms in public and private schools and to homeschool groups. Here students invsetigate what's inside their foods by reading the ingredients list.

Thanks to our parent company’s (Beecher’s Handmade Cheese) 1% gross contribution of all sales, the Flagship Foundation has served 8,000 of the estimated 50,000 4th-6th graders in the Puget Sound region this school year. Pure Food Kids Workshop

A 2.5 hour workshop presented in 4th-6th grade classrooms. Kids learn about making smart, healthy eating choices while learning about marketing, reading food labels and ingredient lists, and making a hearty vegetable chili. To date, over 20,000 kids have participated. 330+ classes and over 8,000 kids in the 2010-2011 school year.

Our company’s mission to “Change the way America Eats” is at the forefront of every decision we make, large or small. The Flagship Foundation and the Pure Food Kids Workshop are distinct means to that end. Rather than working to legislate change from the top down, we have taken an alternate route to change demand for unhealthy processed food. We have specifically chosen 4^th and 5^th grade students for their unique cross-section; they are both open to changing ideals, as well as incredible persuaders in their own households. Our instruction model is meant to spark an interest within students, while providing the tools necessary for further exploration both in and outside the classroom.
